Summer Burnett

Registered Psychotherapist

M.A., B.A.

About

Summer is a Registered Psychotherapist who brings a calm, thoughtful presence to her work and places strong value on creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. Her path into psychotherapy was shaped by both personal experiences and years of working closely with children and families.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Summer worked as an Educational Assistant and Behavioural Therapist Assistant, supporting children with a wide range of abilities and developmental needs. This experience continues to inform her patient, practical, and compassionate approach to care.

Who I Work With

Summer works with children, teens, and adults who are navigating the challenges of anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and trauma. Her approach is collaborative, clear, and grounded, with a strong emphasis on self-understanding. She believes that therapy should help you feel more capable in your daily life and your relationships. By balancing warmth and encouragement with clear structure and direction, Summer helps her clients move from feeling overwhelmed by their symptoms to feeling empowered by their own tools and insights.

Clinical Approach

Summer’s methodology is a unique blend of behavioral structure and emotional processing. She draws from several specialized modalities to support sustainable change:

  • Behavioural & ADHD Support: Drawing from her background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and ADHD-informed care to provide practical, evidence-based strategies for focus, regulation, and daily functioning.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Helping individuals and families understand their emotional needs and build more secure, resilient connections.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed: Exploring the "parts" of the self to foster inner compassion and resolve internal conflict.

  • CBT & DBT: Providing the foundational skills for cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, and distress tolerance to manage anxiety and OCD symptoms effectively.
