ADHD & Executive Function Therapy in Kitchener
Neurodiversity Affirming Support for Children, Teens, and AdultsMoving past shame, task paralysis, and burnout. We provide practical, nervous system informed psychotherapy that works with your brain wiring instead of trying to force you into neurotypical systems that lead to exhaustion.
Beyond Planners and To-Do Lists
Most children, adolescents, and adults who seek support for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have already tried endless planners, productivity apps, and standard organizational tips. When those tools fail, it is easy to internalize the narrative that you are lazy, unmotivated, or simply not trying hard enough.
Executive dysfunction is not a character flaw. It is a biological difference in how the brain regulates dopamine, assesses urgency, initiates actions, and monitors energy. Whether you are navigating a recent adult diagnosis, supporting a child with big emotional reactions, or experiencing chronic burnout from masking all day, therapy creates space to unlearn chronic shame and construct routines that genuinely fit your life.
Task Initiation Paralysis
Wanting desperately to start a task, sitting right in front of it, yet feeling physically incapable of making the first move until a panic deadline hits.
Time Blindness & Urgency
Operating in only two distinct zones of time: now or not now. This leads to chronic scheduling delays, missed deadlines, and high adrenaline living.
Rejection Sensitivity (RSD)
Experiencing acute emotional pain, panic, or withdrawal in response to real or perceived criticism, conflict, or falling short of expectations.
The Burnout & Crash Cycle
Riding cycles of hyperfocus and intense productivity, immediately followed by severe physical exhaustion, sensory overload, and emotional withdrawal.
Deconstructing the Masking Habit
Many high achieving teens, university students, and professionals spend years masking their difficulties. They overcompensate by working late into the night, double checking everything out of anxiety, and keeping up appearances while running on pure adrenaline.
Our clinical team focuses on externalizing your tools and learning somatic regulation. When your nervous system feels regulated and secure, you no longer have to rely on panic, guilt, or fear to initiate action.
Our Clinical Approaches to ADHD
We integrate evidence-informed psychotherapy models designed specifically for neurodivergent brains rather than one size fits all behavioral correction:
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Untangling from painful self critical thoughts, accepting emotional waves, and identifying actions that align with what truly matters to you.
Cognitive Behavioral Frameworks
Examining automatic all or nothing thinking loops, catastrophic worries around failure, and gradual exposure to task avoidance.
Somatic & Nervous System Pacing
Tracking bodily signs of sensory overload, recognizing emotional flooding early, and bringing your nervous system back down from fight or flight.
Executive Function Scaffolding
Co creating visual, tactile, and realistic routines for study, household management, work boundaries, and transitional moments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to start therapy?
No. A formal psychoeducational assessment or medical diagnosis is not required. If you experience executive dysfunction, sensory overload, time blindness, or emotional dysregulation, our clinicians tailor support directly to your lived symptoms and daily barriers.
Do you provide formal ADHD assessments or prescribe medication?
As Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario, we do not conduct formal psychological testing for medical diagnosis, nor do we prescribe pharmaceuticals. We provide targeted psychotherapy, behavioral scaffolding, and emotional regulation strategies. We are glad to collaborate alongside your family doctor, pediatrician, or psychiatrist.
How does therapy help children and teens with ADHD?
For youth, therapy focuses on externalizing big emotions, recognizing early body cues of sensory overwhelm, developing school coping strategies, and providing caregivers with clear communication tools that lower household friction.
Are sessions covered under extended health benefits in Ontario?
Yes. Psychotherapy services provided by Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) are covered under most standard Ontario workplace and student extended health insurance policies.
